Lectures

Week 1
This week we were given an overview of our assignments for the semester and our groupings.

Week 2
-

Week 3
Learned about L.A.T.C.H. principles and did a presentation in class.

Instructions

Exercise 1: Quantify & visualize data (10%)
Quantify (count) your chosen items and arrange the objects into a presentable layout or chart. Take a picture and submit!

Requirements:
Information must be presented as is. You are required to arrange the objects  with relevant indicators written out with pens to help you visualize the quantity and data. Take a picture of the final assembly and upload into your Google Drive folder.

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H (10%)
Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy
Organize a group of information into a visual poster that combined and utilizes the LATCH principles (min. 4)

Requirements:
Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels
Use a digital photo editing / illustration software available to assemble the pokemons into a LATCH infographic poster. You can re-use back the images of the monsters, but do create the rest of your own visuals to complete the poster.

Task

Exercise 1: Quantify & visualize data (10%)

When it came to choosing what item to pick, I thought about chips but Mr Kannan said there had to be 3 categories so I switched to using clothing pins. I arranged them in a way that made sense to me.

After showing my work I got feedback that I used too little materials so I went out and bought mini lego bricks to use instead of clothing pins. I took inspiration from one of the examples given during class and this was the final output:

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H (10%)

For this assignment, we were allowed to choose between a few creatures but I chose Pokemon because it's the most familiar to me. For this poster, I also took inspiration from the examples given during class. I mainly focused on Location, Time, Category and Hierarchy.

Feedback

Week 1
Chips aren't a good material to use because you can't sort it into a lot of categories.

Week 2
There's not enough items, since it's almost near the submission deadline, just use another material and follow the examples given in the slides.

Reflection

As these were the first two assignments, it was a good beginning for trying to understand information design and I had fun.
