Week 5: Introduction to User Experience Research 

Your product needs to be made known and live up to it's branding, know who you're selling to.

Avoid making a product based on your own biases. Understand your client and deliver. 

Iterative design- repeat and correct as you go 

5 steps of UX Research (user focused)
1. What information are you missing (do research)
2. Make a hypothesis (assumptions on our users)
3. Method
4. Conduct 
5. Looking at past research and focus as you do 

Go out of your way to interview strangers. Avoid leading questions, use neutral questions instead. 

For this week, we needed to create a set of both interview and online questionnaires.

Listening tips:
1. Repeat in your own words
2. Ask them so summarize

4. Don't push through resistance
5. Be patient, don't interrupt

Card Sorting: 
  • Card sorting entails displaying users a collection of cards, each containing a piece of information like a page title, menu item or product category
  • This technique informs the design of navigation menus, content strategy etc.

Find what users need (their problems) then find out what they want you to do.
